THE HOPE THAT IS IN YOU
But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not fear
their intimidation, and do not be troubled, but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks to give an accound for the hope that is in
you...
I Peter 3:14-15
Written in the first century, this admonition from Peter shows exactly what might happen for
being a Christian. From the beginning until now, Christians have not been immune or protected by being a follower of Christ. James even went so far as to say, "Count it all joy when you encounter
various trials..." As we follow after Jesus Christ, we must know that we are walking in a fallen world.
The enemy has his people that he will use to persecute. They will try to dissuede and to keep
one from their walk in God. He will also use our own lusts if we do not stand strong and reject them. As Jesus said, "The devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy." Sometimes, if he cannot get us to
sin, he will try to bring others against us. But also, some people will want to bring evil simply because they do not believe.
There is nothing that will happen to us that did not happen to Christ. He was tested in all
things like we, yet without sin! Keep that hope in Christ firm in your heart! When people attack, share your hope with them!
Apostle James
