JESUS IS LORD
But what does it
say? "The Word is near you, in your mouth, and in your heart." That is, the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God
raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.
Romans 10:8-9
The faith of which Paul is speaking in these verses is an act leading to actions. What does
this mean? It simply means that if we truly believe this, then we must do something. Otherwise the belief; the thought; the idea becomes moot and meaningless. Faith without action is
dead!
This simply means that we have to put feet to the belief. We must begin to act and do as
believers in Christ Jesus. We cannot say we believe and then continue in the same attitude with the same actions by which we lived previously.
The key phase in verse 10 is " ..if you confess Jesus as Lord ..." The word "Lord" means
that He is supreme! He is ruler over all. His word should direct all of our actions! You see a "Lord" is a sole ruler. In the kingdom, there is a king who is the Lord of Lords. His word is law. His
word is to be followed without question. So, in order to love Jesus as Lord, we must commit to obeying all His commands. If we do this, then we will be faithful servants.
We do this willingly because He is a worthy King who was willing to die for us and take our
punishment! He loved us first!
Apostle James
