SO WALK IN HIM
As you
therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with
gratitude.
Colossians 2:6-7
Belief
is nothing without the action in your walk. If, Paul says, we have received Christ, then we should also be "walking" in Him! To walk in something indicates that we have been persuaded that this is
the true way. We believe it so much that we put away other beliefs and adhere to the new truth.
One big
issue in Paul's comments are that we have been "firmly rooted" in Him. This is a test that we should take ever so often. If we have been firmly rooted, then we are like the trees that can withstand
strong winds and not break. We believe in it and stand strong.
If we
are firmly rooted, next is to be established in our faith. To be established is to be so strongly convinced that a trial will not sway us. We can withstand a trial and still be convinced of His truth
and not stumble. We stand and believe when some would fall.
To
become this strong in faith, we must be built up in Him. That is, our love for Him must overwhelm us so that we do not falter.
He is our
"rock!"
