Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it
yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ
Jesus.
Philippians 3:13-14
If we are to follow Christ Jesus and be what He has called us to be, we must be diligent to
"press" forward! Pressing is an active verb. It indicates action. We cannot "press" without being active in our actions. Paul implies in this passage that the goal which Christ has set before us is
inviting enough for us that we must pursue it very vigorously.
The "goal" which Christ has set before us is the purpose for which we were created. Christ will
have a church which will bring forth the kingdom in the earth today. To do so, we will need to war against the enemy and his demons. We cannot sit idly "at ease in Zion." We must be about Father's
business.
As Paul stated, we can never reach a place where we think we have arrived. We must continually
be moving forward. As we do so, we will need to put behind us those things which would keep us from moving forward in Him. We cannot allow the things of the world to sway us from our purpose. Our
purpose is what gives us our hope for life in Christ! Saints, keep pushing forward. Be diligent to be about His work. As we do, we will see kingdom!
