TO A LIVING HOPE
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to
be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for
you.
I Peter 1:3-4
When Jesus was resurrected from the dead, it set a new standard of inheritance for the people of God. Prior
to His resurrection, it was thought that when someone died, they entered the "nether world." This was a place of darkness and gloom. But with His resurrection, we could now see that there was life
after death. This death was for eternity and was to be with Christ in heaven.
Now we have this as a hope for our eternity. We can believe that we, too, can be resurrected to life
eternal. We have this hope of an eternal inheritance. This inheritance will not fade away! It is reserved in heaven for each of us.
All who come to Jesus as the Lord and Savior of their lives have this inheritance. It is promised to all
who make this confession, and then, walk in obedience to our Lord. We do not have to face eternity in a dark and gloomy place. But we can have life eternal in the light of our Lord! This is our
promise and our hope. PTL!!
