NOT OF THE WORLD
I have given them Thy word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the
world, even as I am not of the world. I do not ask Thee to take them out of the world, but to keep them from (out of the power of) the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the
world.
John 17:14-16
What did Jesus mean when He prayed this part of His high priestly prayer of John 17? He is
not of the world! We, His followers, are not of the world! But He does not want us taken out of the world, but to keep us from the evil one.
We must always remember that the "world" is not the planet earth, but is the world system
as we know it. This world system is corrupted. Sin entered when Adam sinned. Since that time, the "world" has operated in man's derangement. We who have come to know the Lord Jesus have been moved
from the domain of darkness to the domain of our Lord! (Col. 1:13) Now, we are to think and act according to the heavenly realm! But physically, we are still in the
world.
We have been left here with a mission; with a purpose! We who are in Christ are to show to
the "world" the Jesus whom we follow! As we do, we should see others wanting to enter the kingdom and come out of the world. Our work is not done until Father calls us home, or until Jesus returns
again. Until then, walk triumphantly in Him and overcome the world.
