BE THE
GOOD SEED
And the
seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit with perseverance (steadfastness).
Luke
8:15
The word
of God will be spoken to all who will listen. Some will hear and refuse to believe. Others will hear, receive, but then not bear fruit because of other influences affecting their
lives.
But, as
Jesus spoke this parable, some seed will land in good soil and will produce fruit for the kingdom. But, in this verse, there are two other factors which must be present. These are very important for
us to keep in mind.
First,
Jesus said that the person had to hold the word fast. This means that we had to listen, hear, and then not turn away from the word. We must keep the word close to our hearts. We must meditate
on the word so that it becomes a part of our spirit. Then we can say that the word has become a part of us leading to fruit-bearing.
Second,
we must hold the word and bear fruit with steadfastness. This means we cannot bring forth the fruit if we do not stand when other things come to destroy our walk. Trials will occur. We must
stand in the midst of the trials and stand firm! As we do so, we will not stumble nor fall. The fruit can be born because we are resolute in our walk. With both of these factors,
the
fruit will come for His
glory!!
Apostle James
