THE EMPTY
TOMB
.... "Why do you seek the living One among the dead? He is not here, but He has risen. Remember
how He spoke to you while He was still in Galilee, saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again." And they remembered His
words.
Luke
24:5b-8
The women had gone to the tomb to anoint the body of Jesus. They found the rock rolled away
and the tomb empty. Then they encountered the angels who explained what had happened to Jesus.
Jesus had earlier carefully explained to His disciples what would take place, but they had
not understood. The women had gone to anoint a dead body. They were told by the angels that He was alive.
When the women went to tell the other disciples, many of them did not believe. One said he
would not believe unless he put his finger into Jesus' side.
Before we become critical of the followers of Jesus, we need to remember that the
resurrection was difficult to believe. They had seen Him die. No one had done this before. They had expected a kingdom on the earth.
Saints, let us not be unbelieving, but believers! Be willing to believe for the
impossible!! When He speaks, walk in faith with assurance that what He says will take place!
