NOT OF THE
WORLD
"If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. If you were of
the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, therefore the world hates
you." Words of Jesus to His disciples
John 15:18-19
In America, for most of its existence, the predominant system of values was that of the
Christian beliefs. As such, Christians were not persecuted, maligned, or ostrasized. Indeed, it was popular to be a God-fearing person.
But, over the last half century, much has changed. Now, non-Christian beliefs have risen
and the believer of Christ is found in a non-believing environment many times. It is even considered, in some company, harsh to share the beliefs of the Christian. We must remember that the "world"
is the belief system of the devil. So, what Christ taught will be considered the antithesis of the "world."
But, we must remember the words of our Lord. As much as He came in love to save the people
of the world, He was maligned and even crucified. Seduced and deceived, the enemy keeps the world captive. We must war to overcome the "world system" which the enemy has built. So, saints, prepare
for the battle. Know that we can overcome by the power of the Spirit! Christ has called us to war! Show His love to a lost and dying world!
