KEEP ON ASKING
And I say to you, ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and
it shall be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it shall be opened."
Luke 11:9-10
Jesus spoke these words as He was sharing concerning being persistent in our prayers. His
emphasis was upon asking, and then continuing to ask. He shared the parable of the man who went next door to ask for some extra food when he had unexpected guests arrive. He continued to ask
persistently even as the man next door was unwilling to get up. Jesus said, "I tell you, .... because of his persistence....... the neighbor will get up and give him the
food."
Some people would say that you only need to pray once and then you will receive if you have
faith. Yet, with this parable, Jesus is saying something different. He is encouraging the disciples to pray and ask again if they do not receive the answer. In one version it says, "Pray and keep on
praying." The persistence in praying is rewarded!
Whether you believe once is enough or if you are persistent, Jesus wants us to pray and
ask. We are called to seek our Father! Place your requests before Him believing for the answer, and you will be rewarded.
Apostle James
