THE STENCH OR THE GLORY
Jesus said, "Remove the stone." Martha, the sister of the deceased, said to Him, "Lord by this time there will be a stench, for he has been dead four days." Jesus said to her, "Did I not say to you,
if you believe, you will see the glory of God?"
John 11:39-40
As we learn to move into the glory of living in our Lord, we must push ourselves to believe
for more than we could believe in the natural! As in the case of Mary and Martha concerning their brother Lazarus, Martha truly felt that the time of a miracle was over. Nothing could be done now. We
can only accept what has happened was her feeling! Not even the Lord could change this!
When we accept the death of a vision, we are saying there is nothing that even God can do.
When we quit believing while there is hope, we put to death any faith for a miracle. This is when the "stench" of any situation becomes real to us. We allow ourselves to accept it and to stop
thinking about a victory.
But, if we can come to believe, like Martha did, then we can see the miracle. The "stench
of death" will give way to the glory of God! Belief and faith in Him are the basis of all of our miracles. Yes, He can surprise us, but He first wants us to believe; to have faith for something
greater. Then, when it happens, we can give glory to Him and tell others of the love and faithfulness of our God! At last, we can see the glory!!!
