                          DIE TO SIN

For the death that He died, He died to sin, once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore, do not let sin reign in your mortal body that you should obey its lusts.

                                    Romans 6:10-12

When Jesus came to the earth, He became a mortal man subject to all of the temptations that we face. The Word says that "He was yet without sin." He overcame the temptations and was sinless. When He died, it was for our sins. not His. Jesus died to give us freedom!

To gain His victory, we must "consider" ourselves to be dead to sin. That is, we must overcome the temptation to give in to do the wrong thing. We must gain the victory over the sin both in the soul and in the body.

To do this, we must follow the command that Paul wrote in this Roman passage. We must die to self, but become alive to God in Christ! This is an act of the spirit! We have the power of Holy Spirit living in us. Through the Spirit, we can, in our spirit, gain victory. To die to sin, we must be willing to say, "No more!" to things of the flesh. We must die to that and allow Holy Spirit to empower our spirit to gain the victory!

This is the process of dieing to self! We must determine in our hearts to not sin, and then we must allow His Spirit to give us the power!
