THE GOOD
WORK
For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it
until the day of Christ Jesus.
Phil. 1:6
Paul had great confidence in the work of the Spirit in the believer. He knew what the
Spirit had done in His own life, and he knew what the Spirit could do to anyone whose heart was willing to be changed.
The key word in this is "willing." If we are willing to grow and to become more like
Christ, then Holy Spirit will continue to work in us. But, if we determine to do it our way, then we will find the true work blunted. Our hearts must be willing to receive the work of the
Spirit.
This work can come in a variety of ways. We may need encouragement, and the Spirit will
bring those who will encourage us to continue on in our walk. The work may be to help us in our feelings of rejection. He will see that there is opportunity for us to be
accepted.
But, the work may come through a test to strengthen our faith. We may need to believe that
the Lord will work in the situation in our lives. When we see His salvation, then our faith grows and develops.
However, we need to be encouraged, changed, corrected, or tested, Father will provide what we need so that we can
become more and more like our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
