BE A
SERVANT
But it is not so among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your
servant. And whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for
many.
Mark 10:43-45
When Jesus came as the Promised Messiah, He did not come with trumpets sounding. He was not born in the castle, but he was born in the humble stable. He was not earthly royalty, but He
came as an obedient Son to His Father! He came to die for us. He came to give His life for many so that we could become children of God. His heart was to love and to serve. Now He is seated on His
throne at the right hand of God.
If we want to emulate Jesus, then we must learn to put on the mantle of the servant. We
must learn to give and to not expect in return. We must learn to love even if we are not loved in return. We must learn to die to self!
Most who desire to be leaders in this life want to do so to gain power. Many want to lord
over another. It is more about the power than the ability to serve. It has been said that power corrupts. This is because man is a fallen creature.
But, saints, Christ has called us to be as He was. We can only learn to rule as we first
learn to serve. As we learn to serve Father, then we will learn to rule out of love for the sake of His people and not just for ourselves. This is the mark of a true disciple of
Christ!
Apostle James
