THE FEAR OF THE LORD
And now, Isreal, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve the Lord thy God..
Deut 10:12
And do not fear those who kill the body, but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul & body in hell.
Matthew 10:28
Many Christians want to substitute the word "reverance" for fear in these scriptures. They feel that the word "fear" makes Father seem too harsh. But what of the original text?In the Greek, the word Jesus used was "phobeo" from which certainly means "fear" to us.
Yes, even Jesus stated that we should fear Him who can destory both body and soul. There is the truth that tells us that God Almighty can be fearful in His judgment of those who will not listen and obey His command. We know Father loves and cares for His created ones especially those who seek Him. But, we must know that He will judge with righteous judgment. Therefore, come to Him and live!
Apostle James
