                    THE FOCUS OF OUR EYES

For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen; for the things which are not seen are eternal.

                                             II Cor 4:17-18

Paul here encourages us not to look at the things of this world. He states that all of this will eventually pass away and be no more. Even though we may be tempted to seek earthly things, they are not the things which will last for all eternity.

Our call as Christians is to seek the things which are eternal. Those things are the things which will last forever and which are the true treasure. Those things are, of course, the things which are of God!

When our time on earth is ended, there will be eternity! So, if necessary, we can endure some "momentary, light  affliction" as it can produce in us and for us the eternal prize of life with Father. We, as Christians, must learn to set our eyes upon the prize of the high call of God in Christ Jesus  and look to Him for our hope!
