Abounding in true knowledge
And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment,
so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ.
Philippians 1:9-10
Paul prayed, not that love would abound only, but that it would result in more knowledge and
discernment. As Christians, we are not to be people who just "love." But we are to be people who have love to learn the "real knowledge" concerning our Lord. As we learn more of Him and
His ways, we know more about how to serve Him in holiness. More knowledge of Him allows us to do the things which please Him and bring Him glory.
As we grow in true knowledge of Him, then we can more easily discern between the true and the
false. We will not easily be deceived by the enemy and led falsely. We can not only defend ourselves, but we can help others stay out of the evil way!
Then, in the day of Christ, we will be sincere and blameless. We will hear "Well done, good and
faithful child."
Apostle James
