             ROSES IN THE THORNS

And on that day great persecution arose against the church in Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria.... Therefore, those who had been scattered went about preaching the word.

                                              Acts 8:1b, 4

Throughout our lives, as we walk with the Lord, we will find that there will be times where the enemy will come against us. Life itself will bring situations where there will be struggles. How we handle these times will be determined by our faith in His providential grace.

In the case of the Christians in Jerusalem, though they were scattered from their homes to other places, they continued to spread the word of the gospel as they went. They did not blame God or did not spend hours crying and moaning to Him. The word simply says, "They went about proclaiming the good news of Jesus."

In the midst of trouble and disruption, we can know that Father is with us! He will see us through by His strength. He will open doors and shut the mouths of cynics. Opposition is to be seen as an opportunity to share Jesus and show the world our Lord!
